The Rosewood Country Inn is an eleven suite inn, built around 1850 in the early
Victorian style. The Rosewood is set on 12 hilltop areas in Bradford, part of New
Hampshire's Dartmouth/Lake Sunapee Region. The inn offers fireplaces,
Jacuzzis-for-two, sunlit porches and inviting common rooms. Fine linens and
country air lure you to sleep. The aroma of a gourmet country breakfast awakens
you in the morning. Hiking, biking and canoeing bekon on a summer's day.
You'll want to explore country lanes, hike the state parks and discover treasures
in the small towns and villages. Ponds, lakes and streams offer swimming,
fishing and old fashioned relaxation. A wide front porch...flower and herb
gardens...a deck with a private hot tub.

Q&A with innkeeper, Lesley Marquis:

Can you tell us a little bit of the history behind the Rosewood Country Inn?

The inn was started in 1896 as a summer resort and catered to well to do families
in the cities. The inn was then known as Pleasant View Farm. They were
able to accommodate about 85 guests in the inn and cottages. The inn also has the
signitures of the Gish sisters, Gloria Swanson, Douglas Fairbanks, Mr. & Mrs.
Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford and Jack London.

What made you interested in buying this property?

My husband and I both wanted a slower paced life for our teenage daughters and
the Sunapee Region of New Hampshire seemed perfect!

What kind of renovation work was required?

When we bought the inn (in 1991) it was in deplorable condition! It had no heat,
no electricity, no plumbing...needed a new roof and a 126 new windows!

What is your favorite spot or room?

My favorite place is the gazebo by the pond...so romantic and serene.

What makes a stay at your inn unique?

We specialize in romantic getaways. The ambiance is created by period antiques,
canopy beds and luxurious guest suites with fireplaces and Jacuzzis for two.

Please tell us about this area of New Hampshire.

The Rosewood Country Inn is just 30 minutes from Concord and only 90 minutes
from Boston. The Sunapee area offers a variety of choices for guests who love
history, restaurants, shopping, winter sports and summer activities.

What are some 'can't miss' attractions?

In August, Mt. Sunapee Resort is the site of the annual League of New
Hampshire Craftsmen Fair for 9 days. This large, juried event involves exhibits
by hundreds of the state's top craft people.
