| ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Notes from my back porch... course of the day I noticed how much I WANTED to talk, and how many mine yesterday (a head cold that went south into my throat) and during the course of the day I noticed how much I WANTED to talk, and how many people there were to talk TO! Despite my inability to croak a full sentence, I realized how many people during the course of my day that I bump into that I want to chat with -- at our farmer's market, in the neighborhood, at the store, at my child's dance class. It made be feel blessed that I live in a community where we're all always bumping into each other no matter where we go. This is not the place to be if you want to be anonymous. But, I like that. that. I also realized how much more I need to LISTEN rather than blab. It has been a humbling experience. What others have to say is very important to listen to. My voice is coming back today, but I take with me these little lessons I've learned. :) This week I'm publishing a story that I wrote a couple of years ago after I listened :) to one individual tell his story about his wonderful apples. This is an extraordinary man with an extraordinary mission: to save heirloom apples for generations to come. Click here to read story, "The Keeper of Apples." More Stories This Week: UVM's Morgan Horse Farm Almost hidden on a side road in Weybridge, Vermont is the University of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm, an absolute gem among the state’s must-see attractions. Yet, “attraction” is hardly a fair word for it, since it isn’t commercialized or glitzy. It’s serene and beautiful; the grounds are gorgeous, the foals are romping in the pastures and the horses are always in beautiful shape. Click here to read more about UVM's Morgan Horse Farm... Sliced Pork Tenderloin - Venetian-Style By Charlie Burke I’ve found that pork tenderloin, sliced and pounded thin, works well in any recipe calling for veal scaloppini or pounded chicken breasts. I avoid using veal and find that pork has more flavor than chicken, unless I’m able to find free range local chicken. Click here to read story and for recipe for sliced pork tenderloin...
